Overview
Scaffold is a focus and routine app owned and operated by Hoelscher Ventures, LLC (“Scaffold,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). Hoelscher Ventures, LLC owns and operates scaffoldfocusapp.com. Scaffold turns completed effort into progress in a virtual city. Some information stays on your device, while account, backup, synchronization, social, purchase, and analytics features use the service providers described below.
Information Scaffold collects
- Account information: a Firebase user ID, authentication provider, email address when using email sign-in, and the Scaffold username you choose.
- Device and app identifiers: an app-generated device ID used to support account assignment and device transfer, a Firebase app-instance identifier, and app version, build, operating-system, and device information used for app functionality, analytics, security, and diagnostics.
- App content, activity, and gameplay progress: user-created topic names, routine names and routine-step text, focus and routine activity, city layouts and buildings, unlocks, in-app balances, upgrades, rewards, and related progress needed to provide the app and supported recovery features.
- Social contacts: friend requests, friend relationships, associated usernames and account IDs, rewards, and neighborhoods you explicitly choose to share.
- Purchase information: Premium product and transaction identifiers, original transaction identifiers, subscription or entitlement status, expiration or revocation information, an app-account token, and related support timestamps supplied through Apple or recorded by Scaffold. Scaffold does not receive your payment-card number or full payment details.
- Product interaction and analytics: app launches, screen views, taps and feature interactions, focus and routine activity, session statistics, purchase events, app-instance identifiers, and approximate location derived by Firebase Analytics from masked IP addresses.
- Diagnostic information: limited Firebase SDK delivery or authentication diagnostics and Scaffold events concerning city saves, recovery, persistence failures, and related app functionality. These records may include an account or app-instance identifier, event category, app version, build, device, or operating-system information, but are not used for advertising.
- Launch notification: your email address if you ask to be notified when Scaffold becomes available on the App Store.
- Support communications: your email address and the information you choose to include when you contact support.
Scaffold does not collect the content you view, create, or send in other apps, and it does not collect precise location information.
How information is used
Information is used to operate Scaffold, authenticate accounts, assign or transfer account access between devices, save and synchronize app data, recover supported account data, calculate progress and rewards, provide friend and sharing features, verify purchases and respond to purchase-support questions, diagnose failures, maintain security, send a requested one-time launch notification, respond to support requests, understand product usage, and improve the app.
Screen Time and app blocking
Scaffold uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to let you choose apps or categories to restrict during a focus session. Those selections are represented by Apple-provided tokens and are stored locally on your device for the blocking feature. Scaffold does not upload those selections or receive the content you view, create, or send inside other apps.
Analytics and tracking
Scaffold uses Firebase Analytics to understand app usage and improve features. Firebase Analytics may automatically collect an app-instance identifier, app launches, screen views, usage and purchase events, session statistics, app or device information, and approximate location derived from masked IP addresses. Scaffold may associate Analytics events with a Firebase user ID after account authentication. Scaffold does not request precise location for Analytics and does not use this information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Scaffold does not display third-party advertising, sell personal information, or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
When information is shared
Scaffold may share information in these limited circumstances:
- Google Firebase: for authentication, cloud database storage, server functions, hosting, and analytics.
- Apple: for Sign in with Apple, App Store distribution, purchases, subscriptions, and Screen Time functionality.
- With friends when you initiate or accept a connection or explicitly select a neighborhood for sharing.
- When required to comply with law, protect users, investigate abuse, or defend legal rights.
- As part of a business transfer, subject to appropriate protections and notice where required.
Service providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments and only for the purposes described here.
Retention and deletion
We retain account information and app content while your account is active and as needed to provide Scaffold. You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. Deletion begins immediately and removes the Scaffold account and all account data controlled by Scaffold, including cloud-stored account information, app progress, city data, routines, focus history, friendships, shared neighborhoods, and data stored locally on your device.
Launch-notification email addresses are retained until the launch notice is sent or you ask us to remove your address. To remove an address before launch, email legal@scaffoldfocusapp.com from that address.
Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription. If you have an active subscription, manage or cancel it through your Apple account. Apple may retain purchase records under its own policies. Firebase Analytics measurements collected before deletion may remain for the applicable Analytics retention period or in aggregated or deidentified form, but Scaffold clears the account identifier and does not use those records to restore your deleted account.
Children
Scaffold is intended for people age 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age or parental consent, you may use Scaffold only after that requirement is met. Contact us if you believe a child provided information contrary to this policy.
International use and data transfers
Scaffold is available to users around the world. We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where we or they operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms for international transfers.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may delete your account directly from Settings. For other requests, email legal@scaffoldfocusapp.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Security and your choices
Scaffold uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. You can control Screen Time authorization in iOS, decide which neighborhoods to share, manage Apple subscriptions through your Apple account, and delete your Scaffold account from Settings.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Scaffold changes or as required by law. We will post updates on this page and revise the effective date when appropriate.
